Rhonda brought new life to old - but beloved couch. Our first purchase as a married couple 20+ years ago. The photos do not show the unique features that required to extra and detailed attention. Because the couch did not fit through the front door well - she actually did some of the final assembly at my home. You are in excellent hands with Rhonda!!!!

I had the recent opportunity to host a leather workshop that Rhonda taught. It was such a great experience. If you are thinking about hosting or taking a workshop with Rhonda, Do It! She’s a excellent teacher that is passionate about not only upholstery but about sharing her love of leather. We love our chairs and island stools! Both were reupholstered …chairs with a beautiful performance fabric and island stools with a cream leather. Absolutely beautiful detailed workmanship. Working with these two Ladies at The Whimsical Chair was fun and very knowledgeable which was helpful when choosing fabrics/leather. Looking forward to working with them again.

Rhonda does more than just retore furniture, she restores memories. We brought Rhonda two very unique pieces - two antique barber chairs that my wife’s grandfather used in his Chicago barbershop and an Eames chair that I had inherited from my great uncle. The memories associated with both were wonderous, vivid, perfect - the pieces themselves, not so much; torn, worn, tired. Rhonda worked some form of Harry Potter wizardry in her workshop restoring not only the furniture but revitalizing the memories. That’s her gift, that’s her magic. She and the work (or wizardry) she does are well worth the wait.

The class was a perfect small size for what we had to accomplish in three days. Rhonda Shanahan filled the days w/ great content for small chair leather upholstery. Classmates were lovely and generous, and our host, Susan Woodcock with Workroom Tech, was so supportive.

I have a rocking chair that has been in our family since the1880's. I took it to someone in Denver and they could not see my vision for the chair. So it sat for another year. I wanted to keep it authentic. I found Rhonda and she completely shared my vision. It was such a wonderful experience to work with her and I ADORE my chair!!

I have participated in two of the open upholstery workshops with Rhonda and The Whimsical Chair, and have learned so much. First, I have learned that upholstery is HARD WORK! But it is so rewarding when you get to the end and have a beautiful new/old piece of furniture. Rhonda is a patient and informative teacher, and is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to her craft.
