Great neighborhood hardware store with friendly customer service. I have been shopping here since 2009. I have also used their locksmith service to change out locks and fix broken door hardware. Prices are very reasonable compared to other stores in the area.

After going to this store for 40 years, I will never go back. I really hate to say this, because I did have many good years. But this lady was terrible. I just had four keys made. Two duplicates of two different keys. Two of the two duplicates did not work. I was told by the lady that the key I gave her was already Duplicated so it probably wouldn’t copy well. Well, after they were made, and I went to try them they didn’t work I didn’t wanna go back to her So I went to a different Locksmith and he told me that only one of the two was a duplicate in the one that she could’ve used was an original but he said it shouldn’t matter because they were actually identical and both worked well in the lock that I have. Back to Southport hardware story ,When she was done back at the Southport she threw the keys on the counter and I said can I have something to put them in so I don’t lose them or a rubber band or a string or something to put on them. She told me I could buy a ring and I said I don’t want to buy a ring. I just want something to hold them until I get them on the ring I already have so I don’t lose them. She told me that she doesn’t need my attitude.
I said all I’m doing is asking for a rubber band or some thing to put these in. I don’t understand why that’s a attitude as a customer.. and I said listen honey I’ve been coming here for 40 years and never had this problem. Then she told me she was offended because I called her honey. I said I’m sorry I don’t know your name but can I have a rubber band I just wanna pay you and leave. There’s a big pile there. She then took my credit card so I could pay her, but with a dirty look. I try to support the small businesses but somebody like this is a real turn off and I’ll be sure to tell everybody that works in my office since I run a management company not to use this vendor anymore.
