I have used Seventeen Street Upholstery several times over the years and I can't speak highly enough about the quality of their work. The owner, Luis, is a great guy. He has been working in the shop for decades. Luis is meticulous in his work and craftsmanship and his prices are very reasonable and transparent. Luis works to understand exactly what you want, and he delivers excellent results. Each time I bring home a piece he's re-upholstered, like today, I like it so much that I look around the house to see what else I would want him to work on. I recommend him without reservation.

We took two chairs and paid $165 each to get a cover at the end that is so ugly we have to through away. Very unhappy.

I have never had better service or better results than I have had with Luis and Eddie. No need for a decorator. Luis went with me to Henry Calvin to buy fabric and 3 weeks later, my couch and love seat are looking great in my living room. He deserves more than 5 stars!!!

Dismissive and a bit rude. Told me what I wanted fixed would be too expensive and that was that. I would pay even more than they quoted to have this fixed, guess they don't want my money! Called the place that referred me (very kind upholstery people at Hardesty Dwyer & Co.) and told them my experience so they don't send other people over here. I think if you have something very simple and they have the fabric on hand then maybe 17th St would be more interested in your business. If 17th St turns you down Hardesty Dwyer & Co recommended Gil's Furniture in Alameda.

The owner mishandled a simple job of covering cushions on a sofa.He made errors in measurement and had to make the seat cushion 3 separate times,wasting fabric.He delivered the covers in a wrinkled heap stating that he does not iron or press fabric.At one point at my residence when he realized that he did not measure or cut the fabric correctly,he yelled and gestured with his finger.He did not return phone calls and continually broke agreements about time frames.overall my experience was that his work is substandard.
