1/14/25. Unfortunately the cottages and all accessories have been demolished due to Hurricane Helene. There is nothing left standing on this parcel. I doubt that the cottages will be rebuilt. Property is up for sale if you are interested.

Wonderful!
If you’re looking for a full service resort, this isn’t it. But if you’re looking for peaceful Old Florida accommodation, you’ve found it! There are just 8 individual cottages located at the very quiet end of Longboat Key Island. I stayed for a week in early September and the beach was practically deserted - most days I met just two or three people all day. It’s wonderfully peaceful and quiet with no bustling tourists or loud bars.
The cabins are extremely well equipped and the owner/manager provides everything you need. Rolling Waves has a nice guest laundry, free beach furniture, a library, DVD collection, cable TV, Wi-Fi, a very nice fire pit (with free fire wood!), ample recliners, a hammock, and a nice shower area to clean up after coming off the beach. Each cabin also has a Webber charcoal grill and a fully equipped kitchen (gas oven and range). The cabins are air conditioned and the bed is super comfortable. The fishing from the beach is great too, and the sea is full of marine life, including manatees that can pass within a few feet of you.

We love this place like it's a close member of the family. I can't possibly say enough good things about it. Classic old Florida. The last place with real character left of the island. Rustic and beautiful. Beach resorts all end up feeling like a Best Western. This place is different. It becomes a home right away and we just adore it.

What a precious, quaint and private setting! We loved our stay and look forward to booking for next year as well. Shelly, who runs the place was so friendly and helpful. The cottages were clean, comfortable and supplied with almost all your needs. You only need a bag as beach chairs are available for you. The beds and sheets were so comfortable. I can't wait to return! Thank you ,Shelly and Rolling Waves for an amazing stay!!

I've been coming to Rolling Waves since I was 26 years old in 2004; it's 2023, I'm 46, and I'm still in love with the laid back, "old Florida" feel. The cottages are nothing fancy, but that's exactly the point. With the amazing views and the beach only steps away (I mean that literally, unlike most beach places where that translates to "3 blocks away") it's an amazing place to truly unwind.

We stayed in #7 which is one of their beachfront properties (the other one is #8). The cottages are so cute! I loved the Old Florida vibe and the landscaping. Inside the cottage had a full kitchen, tv, WiFi, living room, bedroom with king sized bed and a bathroom. They provide guests with beach chairs, towels, dvd/book library, and a charcoal grill as well. The property has a communal fire pit and hammock. Shelley, the manager, was nice and friendly. The beach is just a short walk down the wooden boardwalk and we practically had the beach to ourselves both days. Great for shelling and fishing. My only complaint was the floor in our cottage seemed dirty. I understand it’s on the beach but it was beyond just sand; our feet were black within minutes of walking around no matter how many times we washed them. They didn’t look dirty either, they just needed a quick Swiffer wet jet or steam clean. It won’t keep me from coming back though, next time I’ll just try remember to pack socks.

The cottages are very, very comfortable. This is our eighth year for a two-week vacation in this lovely part of Florida. Cottage # 7 looks out on the ocean, has a nice shady porch and is clean, well-equipped with A/C, barbecue, wifi, comfortable furniture and a nice kitchen. One of the best features is Shelley - the manager. She looks after every detail, is attentive, friendly and definitely dependable. The surrounding property is nicely maintained. Close to a number of seafood restaurants, there are lots of nice choices to enjoy.
