I moved up to the Palm Harbor area a little over three years ago and brought with me an expensive (Ethan Allen) leather sofa that had a large hole on the top of one of the cushions which was made by my dog years ago when I lived in Miami. I had put off the repairs because at first I didn’t have enough money and then I just got busy with other things and decided to live with it for years, covering it with a throw blanket.

When I finally moved, I decided to get it repaired. but found it tremendously difficult to find a company that would do it. I must have called seven or eight places in the general Tampa Bay area and each time when they found out that the cushions were sewn onto the back of the sofa they all declined the job.

Finally, I had the good fortune of calling Rohm Upholstery. I sent them pictures of the damage and they agreed to do the repairs and sent me a reasonable estimate. They were somewhat busy so I had to wait a little bit to get it done but finally they contacted me and told me they could come pick up the sofa or I could deliver it to them. I decided on the latter just to save a little bit of money. After a few weeks, the sofa was ready.

It was a challenging job because I had a strip of leather that matched, but it was not long enough to repair the damage and leave that top cushion in exactly the same condition as the two on the sides. However, Rohm was able to come up with a plan, which allowed them to do the repairs and still make it look like it was made that way originally.

You will see the additional stitching along the top in comparison to the other cushions, which is where the difference is, but it still looks beautiful and solved a very difficult problem. I am so happy with the work that Rohm did and highly recommend them for any of your leather repair needs.

If anyone is looking to have new boat cushions made, let me recommend Rohm Upholstery of Dunedin. After several years of indecision on our part and dauntingly high quotes from marine canvas workers, we found the folks at Rohm through recommendations from another catamaran we knew. Everything came together: a good feel, a good estimate, good support in fabric choice, for both salon and cockpit cushions, and the kick plate beneath the salon cushions. Production was prompt and service personal and personable! We are extremely pleased! We would recommend them without hesitation.
