What a great bookstore! And it's a really great place for last minute kids birthday gifts, they do a great job with the complimentary gift wrap. The people who work here are the best. ❤️

Came out here to support local bookstores and pick up a book on plant communication. Staff was friendly when I arrived, but when I took pictures of covers of other books that looked interesting so I could look them up (I consistently do this and encourage others to do so in order to make informed purchases), they very loudly said I wasn't going to buy anything even though I had my card in my hand. Needless to say I left without the intended purchase. Please don't purvey books if all you care about is money, especially if you're going to alienate people who are ready to purchase. I will not be returning here again.

This gem is one of the few independent East Bay bookstores left that is also thriving. Expect being torn among the many choices from the rich and diverse selection of fiction and non-fiction. You can rest in a comfy armchair while making your decisions. Local and seasonal, if non literary items, like tomato plants and jewelry are also on sale. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. A short walk from Bart, Starbucks, restaurants and Orinda Library.

Ordered a book online which they were out of, but they ordered it straight from their distributor and 3 days later delivered it right to my door! (I live locally). Independent book shops are seriously the best and we should all support them! so glad to have this one close by. Thank you!

I've been shopping here for books since my kids were little. The present owner, who's British, took over the place a few years ago. Although this indie has always carried bestsellers and an amazing collection of children's books. The new owner added lots of unique collector's editions, even European ones. For example- lots of Europa... as well as Books by British authors I bought all 4 of Elena Ferrante here way before they became bestsellers in the U. S. They carry some Penguin ClassicsDeluxe, Everyman's Classics and Puffin Classics as well. The children's corners is stocked with a good collection of picture books all the way to YAs
It's a great place to find a regular book to read, a bestseller,a new release, or a gift book for a birthday child. Salespeople are pretty knowledgeable and gift wrapping is free. There's something for everyone in this bookstore. It's the only indie bookstore left in Lamorinda and Walnut Creek. Highly recommend. I visit at least once weekly.
