Visited Montrose Anglers for the first time on a trip into Montrose. Great fly shop! Awesome selection of flies, gear, and clothes. Definitely the kind of fly shop you can spend a lot of good time in. Nolan (the owner) was super nice, very friendly, and knowledgeable. Was in the market for a new fly rod, so as I had booked a guide with them they sent along some rods for me to try out. So helpful to have a day to get to know each one rather than make a decision after casting behind a shop for a few minutes. Can’t say enough about our guided trip. Location on the gunnison was amazing. We had Preston as our guide, he was fantastic. Very knowledgeable, but more than anything, just easy to get along with and made the whole day so laid back and comfortable. This was my wife’s first guided trip, and he was so helpful to her. Taught her so much and she loved the experience. Can’t wait to get the rod I ordered and come back out to Colorado soon to fish!

Best fly shop on the western slope! Everyone in the shop is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. If possible, definitely take a guided trip with them, they will do their best to put you on the fish and you won't regret it.

Best fly shop on the Western Slope. Preston and Caleb are legit. They're on the water a ton and really know their stuff. This shop has just about everything you need, from fly tying to on the water necessities. You won't be disappointed visiting Montrose Anglers!

Great fly shop and the staff are all extremely knowledgeable. I have used them on multiple occasions for bugs, flies and gear, as well as used their guide services a few times.
They really understand the waters and hatches in the areas, and are great at educating an angler on the best spots, times and flies to use.
The owners are amazing, as well as all of the staff and members who work here.
I can honestly say, it’s my favorite and only shop I visit when I’m in Montrose or wanting to fish the southwest range of Colorado.

Mr Nolan at Montrose Anglers is awesome. Super nice and he's willing to help put you on the fish ! I'm a veteran and totally new to fly fishing. After about a 45 minutes chat I proceeded to go catch some nice trout all on my own. He has a whatever you need and he's a sincere as they come. Mr Nolan the pleasure was all mine. Thank you for making my trip to the western slope even more rewarding. Also I came home with a nice 4x5 and a bow kill too !! I'm supporting you from Georgia !! Y'all come catch some of our red eye shoal bass whenever you're ready. Your son would love it !!
