This place is an awesome hardware store. Their depth of stock in stainless steel hardware and bronze fittings led me there as per a recommendation from a salty local. I was , and continue to be impressed with this great store. I wouldn't want them to change a thing! And, they have an friendly kitty that wanders the aisles that stole my heart. See you again soon.

True value door mats greet you at the entrance! True value signs everywhere within. Because I do not live nearby, I do not shop here often. I had a True Value coupon that required a $50 purchase to benefit. I purchased what I was there for that amounted to $35. I continued to shop until I raised my purchase to beyond $50. At the register I was rudely told by a young worker that: "They were NOT a True Value store, they merely sell True Vaue products. We are Johnson Hardware not a True Value store." Therefore they refused to honor my True Value coupon. From a consumer point of view, I remain confused. The employees elsewhere were extremely friendly and helpful. The store inventory is one of the best in CT. They always seem to stock what you need.

I dropped off my mower 2 years ago for a electrical issue. I called every month or two for updates. Was always told I'm sorry we have been busy We will get to it next week we will call you. In the 2 years my mower was there I NEVER got a call back. I picked up my mower yesterday after demanding it back. Half the engine is missing all these other parts are missing. I called again, asked for a manager. This issue never went anywhere. I ended up calling again asked for a manager, ended up getting the owner *Bill* , he was a complete ***hole to me, blamed me for this whole situation. I have been a customer for 20 plus years to this place. I never expected this from this place. I expect my mower back the way I dropped it off. I will never go back to this place ever again, I will also spread the word of their terrible horrible customer service.

This hardware store carries a variety of goods such as power tools, home goods, seasonal decor, bird feeders and seed, and much more. The staff is very helpful and friendly here.

I will say that this is a huge store. I needed keys made. So I got to check the store out. The bearded gentleman we ran into in the parking lot was so kind and very knowledgeable and helpful. Went out of his way for us. The guy who makes the keys was efficient in his task. Unfortunately, he needs better customer service skills. I felt he was curt with us. We do not do this kind of work, so we are unsure of the process. The young lady at the checkout was efficient and kind.
Please remember how you treat someone because one day, it just might be you who are treated a certain way. Kind is kind!

I have been going to Johnson’s Hardware for 25 years. I went to get my mower blade sharpened, and was told it was brittle and needed to be replaced for safety. (blade not in stock). I came back and purchased blade. The blade I was sold caused my mower to jump and bounce around! I returned with the blade and had my money refunded and asked for my old blade back. The blade I was given was too large and rubbed the mower deck. I called back immediately and was told I was wrong! I asked for a manager and was told they were not available and someone would call back. (I had to pay for my weekly mowing)
)! No one called back! I have called daily for 5 days. (old and stubborn) no satisfaction or help. Today I spoke to Gene who told me to get the serial number which I did. I returned the old incorrect blade that was supposed to be mine, purchased the blade and after a week and a half I am in business.
I am disappointed in Johnson’s Hardware, nobody cares, nobody follows through

I love this store, not because it has everything (it doesn't), but because it has higher-quality wares than your average big box store. They have tool rentals of good quality as well, and the staff are friendly and have always been eager to help. This place has become my go-to for gardening supplies, tool accessories, and paint supplies. A great little store.
