India Cash and Carry in Foster City CA has both pluses and minuses. Unfortunately the minuses heavily outweigh the positives.

The grocery store is clean and very well stocked. It has everything that I could ask for. The vegetables are fresh. The kitchen had good dishes cooked on site. The food is delicious and not expensive

The problem is the rudeness of the person at the front desk ( the owner ?) He wears glasses and is always walking throughout the aisles as if he’s expecting people to be shoplifting! He is very rude. The lady who runs the kitchen is equally ( if not more ) rude and disrespectful.

A little friendliness , a smile , a welcoming comment / would go a long way to
make this place much nicer.

Please don’t buy fresh produce from this store. I had read the other reviews but wanted to try them as they were the closest grocery store. (And the owners reply says for itself)

First of all sell stale produce with wax on them. Today I went to the store and when I asked why the tomatoes feel greasy they mentioned they had wax on it for transport purposes and it would come out when you will wash it.

I came back home and tried washing it off but it didn’t come out. When I went back to return them, they completely changed themselves mentioning that they never mentioned that the vegetables have wax on them. They totally lied on the face and misbehaved.

I was so surprised. This was a very bad experience and I am not sure what all do they treat the vegetables with. I will never go back there again. I would urge the councilor to look into these store - they can’t sell stale produxce and produces with wax on it.

A store owned & run by extremely rude & inconsiderate people. Diwali sweets were displayed for selfservice. A customer, after packing them up for purchase, sampled one from her package (before paying for it) and of course all hell broke loose -- two of the workers, and the owners started to yell out insults -- accusing the customer of stealing food! The customer should have left at that point -- but since she had spent considerable amount of effort collecting a large number of items in her carriage, she decided to go to the counter and pay for the goods. But then even at the counter, after she paid for the goods, she met with more insults -- this time from the owner himself -- who eventually escorted her out of the store - almost as if he was throwing her out of the store.
This store has a high turnout of customers in the area because of the specialty food and spice items it carries.
Maybe this is why they feel they can treat one or two customers this way -- and they don't care.
My suggestion -- there are plenty of stores in the area which sells similar items.
If you have to use this store -- at least now you have been warned ?

Great collection of items. They also have a small food counter which offers great variety of options. We have tried their pani puri, vada pav and dal makhani and weren't very impressed by it, but their sweet options are worth trying.

Like their wide variety of fresh snacks and rotis...don't like that they leave dishes open all day. Suggesting that they cook in even smaller batches and not display cooked dishes to public or place transparent lids over them. Good people ....serving the community...

One of the worst store I have been to in a long time. Many of their produce have fungus on them. I personally have accidentally bought produce and found out they were rotten. And when I went to return in within an hour, the uncle there was rude and started Grunting. Multiple times I have bought Ice cream from there which upon opening was clearly gone bad. I have also experienced food poisoning from their Chole. The sugercane juice they sell outside smell aweful after 1 hour of buying. Suffice to say that I have stopped going there. If you care for your health please rather visit the other grocery store in San Mateo.

Bad management - inventory is kept too low. Always out of Alexandria milk, Amul ghee, long sev -anything high demand...
Music needs to be vibrant.
The uncle who manages the place is extremely rude. He should let his young ones out there to manage the place.
We still go there because of location. Otherwise nearby India Grocery is better option

Suggestion: Please offer complimentar chutney with Samosa. All other Indian stores do this and don’t charge for the chutney!
