We’ve been using Hem over Heels for over 5 years, ever since we moved here. Their workmanship and quality was good all that time. Couple of weeks ago, after bringing the pants to hem, they were still a bit too long for me. I’ve brought them back to make them shorter and HoH fixed them for free. Fast forward to today. I’ve brought another set of pants, however one of the tailors declined to take them with the argument that “since you didn’t like my past job, i will not do anything for you anymore”. Second employee, that started to take the measurement was unable or didn’t want to take the proper measurements and was very moody. Finally she said “you will not like my work anyway and I don’t want to take it”. Everyone was rude and moody today. I’ve never was problematic customer, always polite and respectful. So if you decide to take your alterations to the Hem over Hills, know that you have to be happy with whatever the tailors are doing, regardless of their performance and quality; never come back for small fixes, otherwise you will be kicked out.

Edit: after reading your reply it is clear that you have a lot to learn in the sphere of customer service. Two seamstresses sharing opinion is not uncommon, after all they work together. But labeling me as a bad customer after 14 happy visits is a good indicator of your lack of customer service training. As you may see in your reviews online, my review not the first bad one in the recent history, and you might want to look into this. I will not be shamed into silence by unjustified comments. My review is just an indication of the path you’re taking.

The owner (apparently his name is Josh) how do I know that based on all the poor reviews he’s gotten he is very rude and condescending. He doesn’t know how to provide quality customer service and the seamstress are lazy, I had to have my alterations redone because the seamstress did not listen to my request or follow the measurements she took. It took 3 weeks to finally repair my items and it still was so-so. I paid way more than the item was worth! It’s highway robbery. I also consulted the owner about a shoe repair and he gave me a bogus astronomical price and when I contested that the price for the “repair” is basically the same price as the shoe itself so I might as well replace it, he insisted that the manufacturer probably isn’t using real leather and I would get a cheap pair of shoes as a replacement. Poor service. I only gave them 2 stars because I managed to get my items back in my possession which I feared I might not have.

EDIT TO CHANGE MY REVIEW FROM 2 STARS TO 1 STAR -

I will not be attacked for leaving an honest and truthful review of my experience. I am entitled to share my perspective, just as any customer is. Based on Josh’s response, it is evident that this is a recurring issue for his business, as he continues to damage his own reputation with defensive and condescending replies to anyone who doesn’t leave a glowing review.

To clarify, I was not the customer he referenced in his response—I did NOT bring in a suit, nor did I need alterations for a wedding. Instead of addressing my actual concerns, he made assumptions, further proving my point about the lack of professionalism. This demonstrates exactly why I am updating my review from 2 stars to 1 star.

Constructive criticism and customer feedback should be taken as an opportunity for improvement, not as a personal attack. Additionally, if multiple customers are expressing dissatisfaction, it is a reflection of the business, not the individuals leaving the reviews.

Lastly, I would encourage the owner to carefully read and comprehend customer concerns before responding. I stated that it took three weeks to receive my items back, not that they had to be repaired three times (though it actually needed to be repaired twice over a three week period). It is unfortunate that there are other customers whose items required multiple attempts to be fixed, seems like many of the customers can relate to my experience.

A simple acknowledgment of my concerns and an effort to improve would have been a more appropriate response. Instead, this defensive and dismissive reply only reinforces why I—and many others—will not be returning. There are numerous alternatives that provide better quality, reasonable pricing, and professional service.

I’m sure the owner will alter his response after realizing he’s “blasting” the wrong customer so let me share it for all to see. Do better Josh!

I had to get my dress tailored for a wedding and they were amazing. I had straps that were very difficult to tailor (they are twisted) and they did it beautifully and hemmed it nicely also. I really appreciate their help and work. And they gave me a honest opinion when i asked about a slit in the dress and said it would be hard to see it anyways and i respect that and will continue to come here whenever i need a tailor

I’m a new customer to Hem Over Heels and I just wanted to share what a great experience I had with them. I brought in a tote bag to have patches sewn onto, and it came out absolutely perfect! I was so thrilled with how it looks and know my patches aren’t going anywhere because they were sewn on with such care. I thought their pricing was very fair and the turnaround time was quick! I’m excited to bring them more patch projects to work on and I’m overall very very happy with my experience. So happy I found this place!

I called this place to come in for alterations for my wedding dress, all I wanted was a little hem and mainly to get a bustle. Gentleman I spoke with was very kind so I set up the appt. When I arrived to my appt I put on my dress which got a little tighter but I just had a baby and was still in the process of losing weight which was no biggie I just wanted to see mainly about the bustle. The woman was SO rude. She told me that she could not do the bustle because of all the layers (which was completely untrue) and told me to get another dress since mine was “too tight”. I just felt she was very unprofessional and it made me feel horrible. I left feeling completely defeated and dismissed especially when I didn’t take kindly to her not even giving me the time of day to hear me out. Long story short, I went to another place who was able to do the hem, showed me a way to loosen the top so I didn’t have to alter that & was able to do the bustle therefore it was NOT impossible to do. She clearly did not want to be bothered with too much work. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

The cost of hemming my unlined wide legged pants outfit with one leg drape was an exorbitant $80! They do good work but it certainly does not warrant this price. The owner was rude, disrespectful and argumentative. I will never return nor would I recommend this service for any of your alteration needs.

If you choose to patronize this store after reading my review, then you accept the treatment from the owner, Josh, which I'm here to caution you against.

I was uncertain where to take my shoe for repair, so I searched online and noted two nearby shoe repair shops in Boynton Beach. I read mixed reviews about Hem Over Heels, but since I needed a simple fix, I opted for the closest option. This turned out to be a huge mistake.

A particularly negative review from "Maria" mentioned that upon showing her boot to the owner, he proceeded to tear off the sole after suggesting she needed new soles, despite her not requesting this service. This is relevant because I faced a similar situation. I've never experienced such appalling service in retail before. Josh refused to simply fix this one shoe. He insisted that the appearance of the shoe I brought in indicated the other would require the same repair. Despite my objections, he would not proceed with the repair unless I brought the other shoe in for him to work on both shoes! Furthermore, he began to pull at another area of the shoe presumably to demonstrate that it would also break soon. When I saw him start to tug on the part that wasn't broken, I remembered Maria's review where he pulled apart the sole on her boot without permission and I grabbed my shoe from him and said don't pull on that strap! He walked to the back angry and gave me to a nice girl that was in the front. I told the girl there is no way I would do business with this man regarding how he spoke to me and for his refusal to fix the one shoe that was broken. I yelled toward the back of the shop where he was after running away from me, "I will never give you my business and I will definitely be writing a horrible review so others are warned of your atrocious treatment to customers." As I was storming out of the store he screamed I don't want your business anyway! I left there in disbelief! I still had the address of the other shoe repair so only 2 miles down the road at Military and Woolbright I brought my business elsewhere to a very nice man who was happy to fix my just one shoe. If and when the other shoe breaks the same way, that will be MY problem to get that one fixed....certainly not the decision of Josh.

I, personally, have a retail store in Livingston, NJ for the last 35 years. If I treated my customers like that, I would have no business. I hope his actions put him out of business.
I have noticed on other bad reviews Josh or his wife read them and come back with ridiculous explanations of why irate customers (like me) should not be writing a bad review and give all kinds of excuses for their actions toward the customer who has written the review. I would appreciate it if after Josh reads this, he does not answer in any way because it will just get me angrier. How I explained everything that went down is exactly the treatment I received as a first time customer walking through the door. Read the other reviews....skip over the good ones and read the horrible ones. You can NOT make these things up! With the amount of bad reviews written, no one should take a chance when there is competition right down the road that will treat you the way a customer should be treated!

I’ve been coming here since I moved to Florida from DC several years ago. This is not the type of place you come for a quick and easy, inexpensive job. These people can do complicated stuff, and they do it meticulously, with care, and it always comes out perfect. Shortening a ruched sleeve or puckered cuff, taking up a jogger with the existing hem at the bottom remaining intact and doesn’t look weird after they shorten it, bringing in the shoulders of a shirt that’s too baggy, and hemming the bottom of distressed jeans, etc…. And not to mention their COBBLER. For all those short girlies out there that have always wanted to wear a nice leather riding boot during the fall and winter months but u can’t bc the boots are always too tall and awkwardly almost go past ur knee but not quite past the knee and looks stupid? Well this guy shortened a leather boot for me that I needed for a photo shoot in Boston with my family and he did an IMPECCABLE job- like I just brought them home from the store…Shout out to this guy. Do u have to pay for stuff like this? Yes. Is it worth it for certain items? Absolutely. These people are so good.
