Arnie was wonderfully helpful in our procurement process. We ended up selecting a WUI eucalyptus wood (who knew) called Red Grandis. Stained it with Cabot Honey Teak.

It turned out so well. Very cost competitive.

A great, family run lumber yard. They seem to specialize mostly in construction materials, but they are super friendly and helpful if you are not a professional and need help. I found them to have competitive prices to the big box stores, and they deliver locally, which was a big help for my larger projects because I don't own a truck. They don't really stock hardwood, except for ipe for decking.

So much better than home depot across the street and have better quality lumber with a bigger selection. Great friendly and helpful staff.

I bought some 1x6 Con Heart redwood for an outdoor bench project. I understood redwood grading and knew I wanted the look and value of Con Heart. I looked at 3 lumber yards, Hayward was closest and only slightly more expensive than Home Depot (where supply was inconsistent). I didn't really review the product upon receipt (my mistake) and it was all substandard. Splits that made parts of the board(s) unusable. excessively green (I was constantly removing sap), checks and splintering throughout, open knots that don't meet the standard of Con Heart, handling marks that were difficult to sand out. In hindsight, I would have been better off with Home Depot lumber. Frustrated me completely, and forced me to waste time and product. 2 stars only because my mistake of not inspecting lumber on pickup.

Really unprofessional yard staff, they will yell at you if they don't like you, people in the office are standoffish, unorganized and very defensive of their disruptive, minimum wage staff. Even the owners are difficult to deal with especially when making a complaint about the staff, probably due to the fact that they are all family. There are many other cheaper, better places to buy lumber don't buy here save your time and money.
