I’ve yet to have a bad experience at HLM. Very friendly and easy to work with. Lumber prices are somewhat middle of the pack to on the higher end but generally speaking the quality is there always. I will say that you should NEVER buy plywood from any of the big boxes if you live in Lakeland. That soft “sanded” nonsense sold at HD and Lowe’s costs more and pales in comparison to the Birch plywood at HLM! Save your money and recapture the joy of building using quality plywood. If you really want to splurge, HLM also carries Baltic Birch. I found that the quality of their regular Birch plywood is so good I only need Baltic for special projects. And always BOLO for second Saturdays. They are always running specials for odd pieces.

This place is the real deal. I thought lumberyards were intimidating, but the service is great, website is informative, and I got exactly what I wanted. I have been to a few other lumberyards around Tampa, but I will gladly take a day of PTO and make the drive whenever I need some lumber.

Excellent customer service! You can tell the owners have a passion for the business and it shows. I find that I can count on a great selection of standard and exotic species to always be in stock, but they’re happy to place special orders if needed. There’s also usually some thing a little out of the ordinary just laying around. This last week it was live edge pink eucalyptus, rosewood, and grapefruit tree slabs. They also carry a full range of sheet goods including cherry and walnut veneered ply and Baltic birch 5x5 sheets. The quality on these sheet goods FAR surpasses the garbage at Home Depot or Lowe’s, and I’m pretty sure the price is cheaper. After finding this place I can’t believe I ever used to get lumber from a big box store.

I admit I don’t have much to compare it to, but the prices seam very reasonable. I’m always happy with the product I leave with. They also offer surfacing and milling services in case you don’t have the tooling or time to hassle with it yourself. I’m over the moon that I have a quality hardwood dealer just down the road. Do yourself a favor and get in there for your next project.

We purchased new mahogany 6-lite front doors from Hardwood Lumber and Millwork. We were so pleased that we ordered custom mahogany screen doors from them. They also provided great support for finishing the doors. Workmanship is exceptional and these doors have certainly enhanced the appearance as well as very likely the value of our home. They were very communicative which was a huge help since I had never placed an order for doors before. Their pricing is very reasonable and turn round time was good. I would definitely recommend.
