I paid for a new kitchen floor and my bathroom to be remodeled. The bathroom was taken down to the studs. The problems started when it was time to sheetrock. Delay after delay. The whole project started August 12, 2024 and was supposedly done on September 21, 2024. Very shoddy sheetrock job. I can see the seams, I can see the bumps of screws, there is pitting, and one 90 degree angle needs more compound and sanding. The sheetrock person then painted over the shoddy work. I ran my finger over one bump and paint peeled off. There is paint on the window panes. The door now sticks because of the paint on door. There is paint on the hinges, outlet, and lighting fixture. I should not have had to constantly request for the job to get finished or police the quality. One of the workers had even dumped compound out by the edge of the woods. Buyer Beware!!

Design Center East is simply the best. They installed a walking in shower after removing a jacuzzi tub and we couldn’t be happier with finished product. The workers were very professional and respectful of us and our property. The owner BJ is very laid back, easy going and a joy to work with. His no pressure attitude is very refreshing. BJ is very knowledgeable and always ready to answer and address any questions or concerns you may have. I highly recommend Design Center East for your bathroom renovation needs. You won’t be disappointed.

Did a major reno on our 1954 Cape style house. BJ listened to all our concerns and helped us with a design that will enable us to live on one floor as we get older. Walk in tiled shower and soaking tub in unsuite, moved laundry upstairs from basement. Beautiful tile work and carpentry by Ryan, Dan, and Raheem. Found wonderful solutions to our wonky unlevel and unplumb house. It's been 5 months since completion and everything still works well. Thanks DCE

My boyfriend and I recently purchased his grandmothers home in New Hartford and were looking to install floating flooring in the kitchen and have the rest of the house sanded and refinished. We were referred to Design Center East by a family member who had worked with them to get their floors redone. When I reached out to Design Center East, I was told to connect with BJ since he was the flooring guy. Unfortunately this is where things went down hill. Not only did BJ utilize a crew that was no where near qualified for the job in general, they were also not professional. BJ even admitted to us after the fact that he took a chance on them to install the floating floors in the kitchen so he didn't have to get a separate crew and believe me this showed in the quality of work we received. After a long, difficult conversation and walk through of the house to show him the horrendous quality of work, BJ continued to try and convince us that the concerns we had would eventually fade or be covered by furniture and we would forget. BJ did agree to get two new crews out to fix the job but the quality of work we are left with is still not worthy of the 6k we paid for it. The floating flooring in the kitchen is not installed per the manufacturers directions because the second crew was limited on material and made do with what they had. Additionally, the gentleman who was hired to fix the hardwood floors completely wrecked parts of the flooring when scraping out wood filler that was installed by the original crew even though we never asked for that. In all honesty, nothing about the experience was positive and it has left us feeling very resentful and disappointed. With all that being said, it's been seven months and I think it’s fair to say we have not forgotten.

We are looking to replace our kitchen floor and countertops. Trying to support a local business, we chose Design Center East. We went to the store and picked samples which we were allowed to take home. The day to measure came and no one showed up so we called only to find out that supposedly the measurer was out sick but no one bothered to call. The reply to why no one came was " I guess I should have checked the schedule, sorry about that" in a very non caring attitude. I would expect our experience from a big box store. No wonder locals cannot stay in business.

We recently redesigned our bathroom with the help of DSE. We converted our bathtub into a walk-in shower, new floor, cabinets, countertop & sink. It’s absolutely beautiful, the ease of the walk-in shower is amazing! Thanks to BJ & his staff at DSE. They were great contractors, knowledgeable, reliable & very accommodating, plus always on time! I highly recommend DSE.
