The older woman who owns the shop is consistently rude to me, despite the fact that I spend hundreds of dollars in her store (I am a professional seamstress. I am often forced to buy from this shop due to time constraints. I consider it my "shop of last resort.") I brought my Singer 201-2 in for a simple tune up, but she turned her nose up at it and refused to take it in, instead telling me to buy a new Bernina or Janome as she turned on her heel and walked away. She again treated me with contempt and disdain when I went in to purchase a lightbulb for my Juki. She is snippy and short-tempered, amd will always find something snarky to say about whatever project I have brought in to match fabrics or thread colors or whatever.
The best thing to do is to call ahead and ask the younger woman (granddaughter of the nasty lady) when her grandmother is leaving for lunch. I think her name is Stephanie, and she is perfectly lovely. She always has a sincere apology at the ready for her grandmother's attitude, and has never disparaged my work or otherwise made me regret spending my clients' money there.
To be fair, the older woman may be suffering from dementia and unaware of how horrid she is being. Hopefully she gets some help soon.

I am in Florida for the Shop Hop. I called last week to verify their hours and was told that they WOULD be open Monday thru Saturday 10 - 4 just for the shop hop. I worked really hard on my itinerary to get all the shops done in 2 weeks. I put them down for Monday, only to find out they were not open! I drove almost 2 hours for both the shops in Sebring just to get there and they were closed! I ended up driving up to Lakeland, doing that shop and staying the night only to double back Tuesday morning. When I got there at 9:30, thinking I would be early enough to just plan out my day, they were open! The young lady behind the counter said they are open at 8 am for the shop hop! Imagine how frustrating this is when you are planning a trip that has to work around crazy shop hours and when you call, nobody knows what the stores hours are! This shop ended up taking 6 hours total out of my travel plans, and now instead of being done and heading home Saturday, I have to wait until Monday!

We stopped to ask questions about their Janomie machines and the lady was extremely helpful and generous with her time.

A traditional quilt store. What’s nice is the house seems totally devoted to the store. Not a lot of fabric and mostly the same choices of design. There were many patterns though and threads. All different threads and floss. The owner was not very interested in us but she did recommend a pattern for me to try. I was looking for Kaffe Fasset fabric and that was a flat no. Like I said, very vanilla plain.

Store offers a great selection, very good service, easy access and convenient parking. Prices are what you'd expect for a speciality craft store.

The first time that I walked into Crafty Quilters, I knew nothing about quilts, fabrics, finishing old quilts, or much about quilting.
I had just happened to buy an oldlooking twin sized quilt top for $5.00 at a yard sale.
In my ignorance, I thought that I would buy enough fabric to add several "borders" around it to make it larger.
I had fun selecting some modern blues, reds, whites and yellows and piling them in the cutting area along with my quilt top.
Deedee walked into the room and after one glance asked me "Why are you going to ruin that quilt?".
I said "talk to me, I don't anything about this".
Her reply" I'd love to sell you this $80.00 to $100.00 worth of material you have picked out, but a quilt from this era should be finished with muslin.
$20.00 later, I walked out of her shop with the correct fabric for my needs and deep respect for the integrity of a person who would turn down a bigger profit out of dedication to guiding a total stranger in the right thing for the craft.
You can bet we aren't total strangers now! I won't buy or take lessons anywhere else.

I’m making my first baby quilt. I called told the lady what I was doing. She was so polite and helpful. I will be putting the quilt top together and they will finish my quilt. I’m so glad I found you.
