Cooling Hawaii is a great company with professional staff who do excellent work at a fair price. The entire process of having our home AC system cleaned went smoothly throughout, from the initial estimate to a qualified technician, Victor doing an outstanding job, to an easy and convenient payment process. We were notified when Victor would be arriving. He arrived on time, was friendly and professional and completed the work in a timely manner. He showed us the before and after photos of the cleaned components and work areas were completely clean before he left. Had a great experience from scheduling, service and even billing. Their people were super efficient and I received several confirmation emails and text alerting me to our service appointment. The service tech was great and explained every step he was working on. Typically when I have had HVAC service in the past with other companies "something" is always broken and has to be replaced. He told me everything looked good after it was cleaned which was a relief. The billing was smooth with an email after service with pictures of all the service and a quick link to pay via credit card. super nice!

I'm updating my review from 1 to 3 after CH worked with my husband to resolve some of the issues we are having with their routine maintenance service. I'm also updating the review to remove the part about the corroded wire being the fault of the technician. It is inside the unit (not in the outside as I was originally told) and thus out of the control of the technician.

We have replaced both of our compressors within the last 3-4 years. The downstairs unit was replaced about 2 years ago and the upstairs unit 3-4 years ago. Both by Cooling Hawaii. We get routine 6 month cleanings done and I also vacuum our filters once every month.

We were supposed to have our 6 mo cleaning today and our technician showed up and said he didn't have time to service both units today, because the downstairs blower wheel is "too dirty." Apparently cleaning the blower wheel is not part of the preventative cleaning, but part of their "deep cleaning" service, which is much more expense. It's only visually inspected once every 6 months.

I think it's over the top to charge the customer both the preventative maintenance fee + the deep cleaning fee when the units need a deeper level of cleaning. To deep clean a unit is the usual $200 preventative fee + $325/$350 (can't remember the exact quote) deep cleaning fee, for a total of $525-550 PER UNIT. And it's sounding like these units will need to be deep cleaned once every 2-3 years at this rate, which means over the course of the 10 year warranty, the consumer ends up paying $2600+ over that time for deep cleanings for 1 unit. This doesn't even include the price of the preventative maintenance. All in all, it makes more financial sense to just buy new units every 5 years and never get routine maintenance done.

They did go above and beyond to appease us, so I am amending my review, but I do think they need to take a hard look at their pricing and what they're charging for, because there doesn't seem to really be any value in the routine maintenance for the customer. I feel like I'm being taken advantage of from a pricing standpoint.

Cooling Hawaii is by far the best AC installation/servicing company in Maui! Victor (tech) was amazing. Not only professional, friendly and thorough, he took the time to answer questions I had regarding my central ac unit. The office receptionist was also very friendly and accommodating booking services. Also, the pricing/costs were very reasonable, 1/2 the cost of other companies I’ve used in the past. I highly recommend this company for servicing or maintenance repairs.

He is very knowledgeable, friendly and made recommendations for future. They were able to accommodate me on short notice. Cody who schedules the appointments is very friendly as well and really made it happen for my repair to get done right away. Highly Recommend this company.
