This local quilt shop was one of liveliest ones I have ever been to. Outside it looks like a factory with a fresh coat of paint. Inside you can tell that it was once an industrial-type building, but has been given new life as a bustling sewing center. Well organized with a floor plan that flows easily, this building contains 4 distinct areas: a quilting fabric area, a novelty, flannel and apparel section, a huge classroom area, and finally an area for thread arts and other crafts. There are at least two cutting tables that I saw. Best of all, there were actual shoppers inside, most of whom had shopping carts filled with bolts of fabric. Even more endearing is I overheard an employee helping a customer pick out fabrics for her quilt project. While I didn't purchase anything, or interact with any employees, I wish this place were closer to home. Located just outside of the main drag of Colchester, there is plenty of off-street parking, though it felt a little precarious trying to pull out on to the street. The people of eastern Connecticut are lucky to have this place.

My partner and I happened to be in the area looking for foam, when we stopped into The Colchester Fabric Mill, we were both blown away by the organization, and displays. It feels very clean, and the consideration for detail is one of a kind. We were greeted with wonderful costumer service, and I highly recommend this place for anyone in needs of fabric, buttons, yarn, and inspiration.

It had been several years since I visited this shop and it has been transformed into a fabulous shop with wonderful merchandise at every turn. There is a very nice class space, sale corner, yarn section and wool along with so many bolts of beautiful fabric. The folks there are all so welcoming and helpful that I will definitely be going back.

Bought some items and at the register they told me I had a payment pending. Basically accused me of walking out of the store without paying for the fabric. I gave what I thought was the amount I owed (which I didn't). I had ordered it on line and had to produce my PayPal receipt for the fabric. I had proved them wrong and they didn't like it. Talk about rude!!! They don't like giving you your money back even when it's their mistake, but have no problem charging you twice for it. Fortunately, I won't be shopping there anymore.

I ordered some fabric from Colchester Mill and was surprised at how quickly it arrived. I’m used to ordering from other places and waiting 2-3 weeks, this fabric arrived in a couple of days. Their prices are very reasonable and they have a flat rate for shipping. I highly recommend Colchester Mill Fabrics & Quilting!!

I went in with a certain type of quilt fabric in mind and left with fabric for a summer dress and some Christmas dinner napkins! There is a great selection of quilt backing fabrics that I will be purchasing in the future. Thanks for the help from the staff.
