Al is fantastic! You can absolutely trust him with your vehicle upholstery needs. With over 30 years of experience, his expertise shines through. He reupholstered the front seats/bench in my Silverado in just half a day, and the result is flawless. I opted to upgrade to memory foam from the factory foam, and it's been just as beneficial as the switch from cloth to leather, and rather inexpensive in comparison. Highly recommended!

After calling three other auto upholstery repair shops in Sarasota, (two who never called back) I got in touch with Al at Automotive Designs. He gave me a very fair estimate and the work was done professionally in less than half a day. One other upholsterer wanted the same amount of money just to replace the bottom of the seats. Al and his team did the entire seat for the same money. He even offered to drive me home after I dropped the vehicle off. The seats look like the vehicle was just driven off the showroom floor. I would definitely recommend this business for your auto upholstery needs.

If you live anywhere on the West Coast of Florida this is where you want to get your work done. Al is professional and his quality of work and fabrication ability is top-notch. You can tell he has many years in the business and what ever you need he can do it. His prices are also reasonable and work was completed very professionally.

First, in fairness to Al, he inherited me from an auto dealership that failed to effectively coordinate with him for 2.5 weeks. Once that became clear, I phoned to immediately meet with him personally to assure there was no further miscommunication and the job requirements would be absolutely clear. I drove the subject vehicle directly to his facility and awaited his arrival. He showed me the 'two' orders from the dealership with two different dates and neither with clear specifications. Then we walked out to the subject vehicle so he could clearly see the make, model, and trim to document the order; at which point we went to his computer configuration online link to detail the specifications. Al did not seem overly comfortable using the online system but we reviewed a variety of options and even revisited the subject vehicle an additional time. The order was placed and I was told to expect delivery in about a week; then we would set the appointment for the installation.

Now I already had three weeks into this venture during which I could not fully enjoy my new vehicle. And Al was correct, mostly, about the delivery taking a week. But I was called that it was in and drove down soon after the call to find the delivery was NOT in but merely scheduled. Getting back and forth with vehicle drops counting on friends to take you the 20 miles is ok but wears thin after multiple rounds. So the deliver did come in shortly after and I again drove down to actually look at and confirm it. Al himself is rarely there and the installers in the backroom are friendly in trying to help but the language barrier does not make that actually happen. So the color, stitching, vent location panels, etc. where as we did on the screen when I looked at the material that had arrived and I arranged with another friend for another vehicle drop off. No Al around, but I left the keys on the work order. The expectation from phone conversations with Al was about another 48 hours to install and then I could pick up the vehicle. Of course about 48 hours later I get a voice mail message that the items do NOT fit my particular vehicle (you know, the vehicle he was inside of twice in front of his building) and that no company makes a product to fit that vehicle. Have another friend drive you down to pick up your not touched job, and no alternative solution offered.

If you are ok with a business owner who generally is not available, watches soccer on TV when he is there rather than working to help you, and dumps you in limbo after weeks of continued frustration... then Al is your guy.
