I cannot thank Alterations by Kim enough for saving me from walking down the aisle in a wedding dress I wasn't in love with. I came to them with a plain white dress that was way too big, a handful of organza, a picture from the internet, and an unrealistic time frame. I had almost given up, but Vicky created my dream dress and I haven't stopped getting compliments on it, weeks after the wedding. Kim and Vicky were responsive, accommodating and honestly pulled off a miracle. I am very grateful.

Brides beware.

I don’t normally write reviews but I am so upset about what happened to me that I don’t want any other bride to experience it. Please note that Kim seems great, but I did not have the pleasure of working with her.

I was recommended to this tailor shop by the place I bought my wedding dress from and despite it being a far drive for me, I decided to go there. Unfortunately Kim was out on leave during the time I needed my alterations done, and her associate Vicky did most of the work on my dress. Vicky was always double booked, sometimes even triple booked, with brides and it was always a long appointment.

With my mom and my bridesmaids all living out of state, I had to attend these appointments alone. At my final fitting, I asked MULTIPLE TIMES for Vicky to show me how to bustle and unbustle my dress. I was warned by other brides this is necessary and asked if we could film the process. All the times I asked, Vicky blew me off and said it was “easy”. I foolishly took her word for it after being dismissed multiple times.

The worst happened. On my wedding day, I missed my entire cocktail hour because no one could figure out how to bustle my dress. Eventually after a full hour, we decided to just safety pin it so I could get through the dances. It looked horrible, and to make it worse I tripped on my dress during my first dance.

Furthermore, the dress fit me horrendously. Granted I was 12 weeks pregnant at the time of my wedding, but I doubt I’m the first pregnant bride they’ve ever had to deal with. Despite me expressing my concerns at every appointment about how awkward the dress was fitting, I was dismissed and felt like she wasn’t giving it her all to address the issues and I sensed her impatience. My final fittings were only a few days before my wedding so it’s not like my body changed that much either. On my wedding day I ended up having to tug up my dress the ENTIRE day. It fell and looked horrible and I just wasn’t overall satisfied with the work. Maybe I’m wrong but I’m skeptical that it couldn’t have been done better.

Not only did I miss the part of my day I was looking forward to the most, but I am so upset I tripped on my dress for something that could’ve easily been avoidable if she was just a little more patient with me. Take it from me- always insist on filming the seamstress bustle.

I came to Kim after purchasing a wedding dress online that was way too small for me. I put complete trust in her as she opened up all the seams and put it back together perfectly in my size. I got so many compliments on how well it ended up fitting and I owe it all to Kim. She also helped to add a bustle to this dress and did a great job with the minor alterations for my welcome party dress. I will definitely be going back for any and all alterations in the future — Kim is a pro and her store is clean and perfect!

Used Alterations by Kim for my bridal alterations. Kim and Vicky were both wonderful and I will be using them in the future. Kim and Vicky were flexible with my nursing schedule and helped me get my dress done as I definitely was cutting the time close! I appreciated their work and the dress was so comfortable the entire night. Not one complaint. Vicky also did a beautiful job adding some beaded details to the back of the dress. She even coordinated the bustle ties by color and it made it so easy to bustle, it held up through the night dancing. Received so many compliments on the details and fitting!

Kim is the very best. She really cares about how you look. She has a great work ethic. What really impresses me is how much she helps those in hunger in her country of origin. . She is skilled, kind and hard working, as is the rest of her staff. Her original location was devastated by the tornado that hit but she was available in an interim location, and has now opened just up the street from original plaza to Juno Plaza.

I’m extremely disappointed with the experience that I have had to deal with leading up to my wedding.

I couldn’t help but to cry because Kim made my wedding dress alterations a nightmare.

It was so bad that she apologized profusely and offered a discount.

But the damage is done and I DO NOT RECOMMEND this seamstress.

She’s unorganized and rushed my order after it was NOT altered by the scheduled pickup date. It had not been touched. I was with friends and family in the fitting room when Kim was unzipping my wardrobe bag to reveal what was supposed to be an altered dress.

To my surprise (and to Kim’s surprise) it was not altered, or even touched!

Weeks before my wedding. I was devastated. I couldn’t mask it. Not having my mom alive during this wedding planning coupled with the dress fiasco, I was emotional drained.

If you want a stress-free, professional experience, go elsewhere.

Shame on you, Kim for stealing my joy during what should have been a joyful experience.

A colleague recommended Alterations By Kim. I've never had formal alterations before. Ms. Kim was very professional. One of my items was a little pricey, but, it was worth it. Such an excellent job. I will definitely be going back. The bonus is that she finished ahead of time. The only hiccup was that the cashier couldn't find my order when I arrived, but, after waiting 5 minutes, Kim found it. Everything fits perfectly. Thank you, Kim!
