I've been here on a few occasions to buy 1 or 2 boards each time, for home projects. I'm a weekend warrior. I love this place. They're really nice, both in the office and out in the wood yard. They take the time to help me, even though I hardly make them any money.

I sent pictures and descriptions of a cabinet door stile and rail I needed duplicated to Damon Feller
A sales rep @ frost he quoted me $850 to duplicate 90’ of molding .
This quote was to include milling, labor, and custom knives being made to match the profile. This seemed fairly reasonable.
I then took a physical sample of the door down to Frost and dropped it off with the guy that’s responsible for quoting Millworks named David. I told him what Damon had told me and David said yes it will be that or less to duplicate this Molding in a grade material such as. Poplar.

Last Friday David calls me and tells me it’s going to be just over $1600 to do this job!!!!!!!
I explained that’s not gonna work. We had this discussion in person. You said it would be 850 or less, including labor, materials and custom knives being made to match that detail. He proceeded to give me nothing but a bunch of excuses was supposed to call me back today, which is Monday August 26 I have not received a phone call back !
I called to talk to him was put on hold. Jim Frost answered the phone and proceeded to do nothing but a bunch of excuses and cry and whine about everything.
I’ve been doing business with Frost Hardwoods for almost 20 years and I’ve always gone through Obed who has been my go to. He’s been pretty good up until recently when he stopped responding and started dropping the ball” different items.
Frost Hardwoods brags about the fact that they’ve been in the industry for 121 years!!!!!

How can they treat somebody like this that has been a customer for so long and sent them so much business over the years ?
Jim wasn’t even willing to meet halfway. I’ve already started building cabinet boxes so I’m committed and they did nothing but screw me over their prices. Aren’t that great and their customer services obviously below par.

I do a lot of business with Saroyan Hardwoods and San Marcos and I do even more with San Marcos hardwoods Dan and all the guys at San Marcos hardwoods are above and beyond delivery are exceptional and the quality is part. None I will never step foot inside Frost other than to pick up the sample cabinet door I dropped off again !!

Fantastic selection of wood. Prices seem fair. Limited types of scrap available - couldn’t find any red oak. I suppose it’s all about the timing. Staff is very nice but limited help out on the floor.

They have a good number of species available in a few dimensions. They didn’t have too much of what I was looking for to choose from but maybe it was just the timing.

Also, they only cut boards if you want a bigger piece and it leaves 8’ to put back on the shelf, which is annoying if you don’t want to buy 14’ of something expensive just to get the 7’ you need. Makes me wonder where the pieces in the scrap bins come from.

Have purchased a few boards from these folks. The selection is great, even in these dire times, though they really round high when calculating out the board feet. Also, they should have the board foot cost listed for each species, would make life easier. Pretty old school, staff is nice. Walked out with a 1.5"x10"x7ft poplar board for nearly 70 bucks. Hopefully was a mistake. Ouch. For exotics, this is the place due to selection. For domestic, look elsewhere.
