Captain James provides a great fishing experience! He is really skilled and knows where the fish are. He provided my sons insights into fly casting techniques and has excellent local knowledge of the area. Very flexible to create a great time out on the water. I highly recommend a charter with Captain James!

Capt James saved my fishing trip when he agreed to take me on as a client after my regular guide lost his boat and truck in a hurricane spawned tornado. James put me into some great snook and trout on my fly rod. We caught a "ridiculous" number of trout when trout are considered scarce now. He had some helpful tips for my fishing technique.

So much good to say about Capt. James and our trip. My daughters and I where down visiting from virginia and while I'm a pretty avid fisherman, my daughters aren't so much. So I wanted a trip that was family friendly and more so about keeping the girls interested and having fun than trophy fish.
We were put onto Capt. James by another local captain who we originally had booked with. When he fell sick before our trip he referred us to Capt. James. This should speak volumes in itself. When another Captain trusts you enough to take over his charter AND you are dedicated enough to make everything flawlessly work out on a moments notice then in my book we were off to a great start.
Captain James did a fantastic job communicating with me about everything before the trip and was confident and comfortable with having novice anglers on board. He showed a ton of patience with them and taught them alot, from fishing skills to learning about the habitat and fish themselves.
Captain James was on time and ready to go at the dock and met us very professionally. His boat was clean and well organized. His boat is very well maintained, clean, dry riding, and very capable of getting the job done. The same goes for his equipment. Only top of the line, we'll maintained stuff here and plenty of it. From the rod and reels to the line, leaders, and hooks. All nice stuff to give you maximum potential to catch fish. He had also insured we had a huge amount of fresh, lively baits which are key in this fishery.
By the end of the evening our mission had been accomplished. We caught approximately 30 snook, a few snapper and jacks. The highlights of the trip included seeing my daughters have a great time enjoying the outdoors, seeing my youngest catch a beautiful 31" snook all by herself, catching a tagged snook, and fighting what we believed to be a rather large bull shark before he broke us off.
To say we had an awesome time with captain James would be an understatement. It was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend him to make your fishing trip one to remember. We will be back!!! Thank you Captain James. Tight lines. 🎣🎣

I have fished with Capt Cronk a number of times since we met two years ago. In my ten years here in the Stuart area, I’ve not had a better experience than I’ve had with him. He’s very knowledgeable and knows how to catch fish. I’d never fish another guide. My average day is double digit snook and have had as many as 20 in a 4 hour trip. Each trip has offered a new experience and adventure.

Highly recommend fishing with James. His professionalism and coach-ability make him a dream to fish with! Very likable and really knows the area well. We caught several fish each and ended the night with a slot snook! Great boat, great gear, and a killer time on the water!! If you’re in Stuart, He’s the man.

This is the second time I have been out fishing Captain James, and there are many reasons why I enjoy his trips, and why I will continue to fish with him. Today I took my two teenage boys for a morning half day that started out with hooking and landing a 90 pound tarpon!!! That was followed by jumping a spinner shark, and hooking a second shark as well. We then moved into the intercostal where he put us on multiple snook crashing our baits hard. We finished the day with a 20lb jack on light tackle!!! My kids are already asking to go back again.
Other reasons I like this charter is that you do not have to do long runs to fishing grounds. We got on the boat at 7am, and the Tarpon was jumping at 7:13am. I also suffer from sea sickness, so if the ocean is too rough for me to handle, Captain James will keep us inside and the day exciting.

My friend Gary and I had a great action packed evening fishing with Capt. James Cronk last week. Plenty of fresh live bait and plenty of action. Hooked and lost several Snook, but also landed and released at least a dozen. Nothing in the slot, but an awesome night. Capt. James knows his stuff and openly shares his knowledge with his guests. I will join him again.
